Welcome to the Chaos 🍳💙

Well, here we are. Our very first blog post under Chaos with the Coxwells. If you’ve landed here, you probably already know that our life is a mixture of blessings, belly laughs, burnt suppers, and the occasional meltdown (mine or the kids….we don’t judge).

This space is where we’ll share the heart of our home:

·       Real talk → the unfiltered stories of marriage, motherhood, and small-town living.

·       Real food → recipes straight from my kitchen that have been passed down, thrown together, or prayed over when supper needed to stretch just a little further.

·       Real chaos → because raising five kids (and one grandbaby!) means nothing ever goes as planned… and that’s half the story.

A Little About Us

I’m Devin — mama, wife, cook, teacher-turned-writer, and now podcast host. Josh (the husband) keeps us grounded and laughing even when the kids are wild, and supper’s running late. Our kids? They’re loud, funny, independent, and the reason I drink one or maybe two natty lights every night. We started Chaos with the Coxwells as a podcast to share our everyday stories — the funny ones, the messy ones, and even the ones that’ll make you tear up. Now, this blog will be our home base for recipes, family updates, and the little bits of encouragement we all need.

What to Expect Here

·       Recipes you’ll actually cook (and your kids might actually eat).

·       Stories about our life, from gardening fails to Sunday suppers.

·       Faith & encouragement for mamas who are just trying to make it through the day without hiding in the bathroom crying.

·       Sneak peeks into my cookbook series, starting with Butter, Babies, & Blessings.

First Recipe to Kick Things Off

It only feels right to start with a family favorite:

Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Breakfast Casserole (with crescent rolls).Because let’s be honest — around here, breakfast casseroles save lives.

Sausage, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Casserole

A family favorite that's quick, hearty, and perfect for busy mornings.

Ingredients

1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or hot, your choice)

1 can crescent rolls

6 large eggs

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup milk

Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.

Cook sausage in a skillet until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.

Unroll crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of the baking dish to form a crust.

Spread cooked sausage evenly over the crescent roll crust.

In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour mixture over the sausage.

Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until eggs are set and cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

- You can prep this the night before and refrigerate, then bake in the morning.- Try adding veggies (bell peppers, onions, or spinach) for extra flavor.- Swap sausage for bacon or ham if you like.

Perfect for Sunday brunch, holidays, or feeding a hungry family fast!

From my kitchen to yours, thank you for being here. Whether you came for the food, the laughs, or just because you’re nosy (hey, we love nosy neighbors around here), we’re glad you found us. Stick around — it’s going to be delicious, messy, and just a little chaotic.

💙 Devin
